About Jas

Jas Birdi is Lead PMO (Project Management Officer) at Motia, helping to drive change across the business through effective programme management and project delivery. With experience spanning multiple industries, Jas brings a strong focus on people, process improvement, and ensuring change delivers meaningful outcomes for end users.

Let’s start with your role, what do you do at Motia?

I'm the Lead PMO (Project Management Office) at Motia.

My role is all about helping teams deliver projects and change successfully across the business. Whether it's a large transformation programme or a smaller initiative, my focus is always on making sure we deliver value and keep the end user at the centre of everything we do.

How long have you been with the business?

I started in January 2025.

I remember my first day clearly because it had snowed heavily and I struggled to get my car out the drive. I ended up getting a taxi and just about made it into work!

Tell us about your career journey

My expertise is in programme management and delivery.

Throughout my career, I have delivered everything from large-scale transformational change programmes to smaller initiatives, always with a focus on the end user.

I've worked across a wide range of industries including high-end fashion, retail, education and the public sector. One of the things I enjoy most is learning new things and adapting my approach to meet the needs of different businesses and teams.

What has been your proudest moment?

I have been involved in some great delivery at Motia and have loved seeing teams come together to deliver change across the business.

Watching people collaborate, overcome challenges and achieve successful outcomes is something I take a lot of pride in.

How has Motia supported your development?

Motia is always looking for ways to help people develop, whether that's through dedicated learning opportunities, book recommendations or one-to-one time with mentors.

I've been able to access all of these during my time here, which has helped me continue developing both professionally and personally.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I love problem-solving and helping others develop.

I'm grateful to be in a position where I can support members of the team in building their confidence and knowledge around projects, and it's incredibly rewarding to see them grow and succeed.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

Introducing people to new ways of working and implementing industry-standard practices.

That said, the team has been fantastic in embracing new methods, and hopefully they're finding ways to work more efficiently while continuing to deliver great initiatives across the business.

What is the best thing about working at Motia?

The people.

Everyone is committed to their role and genuinely wants to make Motia a great place to work.

The endless cups of Yorkshire Tea are a great perk too!

How would you describe the culture?

Determined whilst remaining true to its values.

Teams work hard to deliver change across the business, and it's great to see those efforts recognised at all levels. There is a huge amount of support across the organisation, including from our Senior Leadership Team, who are very hands-on when it comes to supporting teams and helping drive delivery.

If you could switch roles with anyone for a day, who would it be?

I'd love to spend a day with the Commercial team and learn more about how they identify and bring great products to Motia and our customers.

Tell us a bit about life outside of work

I love trying new food and discovering new places to eat.

One of my favourite things to do is bring together friends and family to try different restaurants and cuisines. At the moment, I'm particularly interested in Dishoom.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I love travelling and discovering new places.

The furthest I've travelled is South East Asia, where I visited Malaysia and Singapore. The scenery, food and people were all incredible, and it's a trip I'll never forget.

Any hidden talents?

I play a number of musical instruments, including the Harmonium and Tabla - I love just having a little jam.

Shrek. One hundred percent. It's funny on so many levels.

I don't think I actually have.

What is the best piece of career advice you have received?

If you ever feel nervous, emulate someone you've seen do it well.

I've done this many times throughout my career, and over time you start to build your own confidence. You never know, someone may end up taking inspiration from you too.

What would you tell your younger self?

Follow your own path, find what you enjoy, and just give it a try.
