About Rebecca

Rebecca Hardaker is General Manager of Motia’s Leeds office, leading and supporting sales teams to deliver strong performance and achieve their goals. With more than 16 years in the business, Rebecca has progressed through multiple leadership roles and is passionate about helping people develop and succeed in their careers.

Let’s start with your role, what do you do at Motia?

I’m the General Manager for the Leeds office.

How long have you been with the business?

A long time, 16 years and counting!

Tell us about your career journey?

I started my career at Motia on the phones as an Account Manager in Leeds. From there, I progressed through several roles, including ATL, Team Leader and Senior Team Leader, before stepping into a General Manager position and managing our Halifax office. In October 2024, I returned to Leeds to take on the role of General Manager for the Leeds office.

What has been your proudest moment?

Watching people grow, develop and succeed in their careers. Seeing individuals progress and excel in their roles is incredibly rewarding.

How has Motia supported your development?

Motia has consistently trusted me with new opportunities and responsibilities throughout my career. The business has also supported me through different stages of my life, and I’ve always had a strong network of people around me who have helped me develop and grow.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Without a doubt, it’s the people. I genuinely can't remember a time when I’ve dreaded coming to work, which says a lot about both the business and the people I work with every day.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

Recruitment. It can be one of the most time-consuming aspects of the role and often involves factors that are outside of your control.

What is the best thing about working at Motia?

The balance. As a full-time working parent, having a healthy work-life balance is really important to me. I feel genuinely supported by both the business and the people around me, which makes a huge difference.

How would you describe the culture?

When it’s good, it’s great. Sales is constantly evolving and can bring its challenges, but the people are what truly make the culture. They create a positive, supportive and enjoyable working environment.

If you could switch roles with anyone for a day, who would it be?

Jenny McQuaid – I'd love to see what life is like at the top and gain a better understanding of her role.

Tell us a bit about life outside of work

I’m a proud mum to two amazing children, Harper and Hendrix. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I don’t sit still for long—I’m always on the go and running at 100 miles an hour, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Spending quality time with family and friends is really important to me. I also love travelling—if I’m on annual leave, chances are I’m heading off somewhere on a plane. Exercise is another big part of my life as it helps me switch off and supports my mental wellbeing.

Quickfire round:

Favourite way to unwind?

Enjoying great food with friends and family, or getting a workout in.

Favourite food?

I love a pizza!

Favourite TV show?

That’s a tough one—I don’t think I have an all-time favourite.

Favourite film?

White Chicks!

Dream dinner guest?

The Queen.

What is the best piece of career advice you have received?

Ask the question. If you don’t know something, you’ll never learn by staying silent.

What would you tell your younger self?

Everything is temporary. Good days pass and bad days do too. Focus on what you can control and create the future you want for yourself.
